The Lucayan Harbour Cruise Facility covers 1,630 acres, which includes cruise and day ferry berths and two Caribbean style retail and entertainment village centers. Regular calls to the Lucayan Harbour Cruise Facility are made by Carnival, Disney and Discovery Cruise Lines. In the past two years, special ship calls were made by Royal Caribbean, Silversea Cruises, Holland America, Costa, Fred Olsen, and Sun Cruises. Renovations to the harbour facility are expected to be completed in early 2002, and the grand opening date is still to be announced. Discovery Cruise Line offers a "Bahamas Day Cruise" that sails daily from Port Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale, departing at 7:45 a.m. and arriving in Grand Bahama at 1:00 p.m. The ship departs the island at 4:45 p.m. and arrives in Ft. Lauderdale at 10:00 p.m. There's also the option to turn your day cruise into a vacation. Discovery's Cruise 'N Stay programs offer vacation packages of one night or longer at a choice of resorts ranging from deluxe to modest budgets.
